‘YOU MAY EXPERIENCE SKIN DARKENING’
The reasons for skin trouble surfacing at this time might surprise you. Says skin expert Dr Rashmi Shetty, “Many women may experience skin darkening during the lockdown. With working from home being the new norm, most people have shifted their desks near windows to avoid being cooped up inside a room. Inadvertently, you end up exposing your face to the sun the whole day.
What adds to it, is the fact that because you think you are indoors, you tend to skip the use of sunscreen and other skincare products.”But be careful when trying out skin remedies at home, too.“It may aggravate and you may just end up with post-inflammatory hyper (PIH) pigmentation,”she warns.

If your complexion has started to change, it could also be due to the time spent on your gadgets. Says dermatologist Dr Shefali Trasi, “You’re probably tanned because of the visible radiation from laptops and other gadgets. Also, since people are at home, they think they can have a skin holiday. Ideally, even if you are indoors, maintain your skincare routine as it keeps your skin moisturised and hydrated. And, always use a sunscreen right after taking a shower.”
